Privacy Policy
Effective date: This policy is effective as of the date it is published on this website and remains in effect until replaced by a newer version.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Pillow Lottie collects, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the website at lottie.pillow-sauce.com and the in-browser editor. It does not apply to any third-party websites or services we link to.
1. Who we are
Pillow Lottie is operated by the entity that publishes this website (“we”, “us”), a business based in Ontario, Canada. We do not publish a postal address on this site. The person responsible for privacy matters can be reached through the contact details in section 19.
Pillow Lottie is a free, browser-based editor for Lottie animation files. It is not directed at children.
2. Information we collect
We collect very little personal information. We do not require an account and we do not ask you to enter your name, email, phone number, or any other identifying details to use the editor.
Information you provide
The editor does not have contact forms, newsletter sign-up, account creation, comments, or uploads. You do not need to provide any personal information to edit, optimize, validate, preview, or export a Lottie file. Your animation files and edits are processed locally in your browser and are not transmitted to us.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our analytics tools may automatically collect limited technical information, such as: the pages you view, the browser and device type you use, an approximate location derived from your IP address (country, region, city), a persistent identifier stored in a cookie, and which features you use (for example, that a file was imported or exported, and in what format). See sections 5–8 for details.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your Lottie file contents, edits, or exports.
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
- We do not operate accounts, payments, newsletters, chat, or booking systems.
- We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising.
- We do not use personal information for solely automated decisions.
3. How we collect it
Analytics information is collected through cookies and similar technologies when analytics is enabled and you have granted consent. File processing (parsing, editing, rendering, optimization, validation, and export) runs entirely in your browser and does not involve any transmission to us.
4. Why we use it
- To understand which pages and features are used, so we can improve them.
- To measure aggregate traffic and detect basic technical problems.
- To know which export and import formats are most common, to prioritize work.
We do not use analytics to identify you personally, to advertise to you, or to make automated decisions about you.
6. Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google LLC, to measure aggregate traffic and feature usage. GA4 is configured to load only after you grant analytics consent. According to Google’s documentation, GA4 uses cookies and a client identifier to measure user interactions, and uses your IP address at collection time to derive approximate location (country, region, city) before discarding the IP address; for visitors in the EU, Switzerland, and the UK, Google states that IP addresses are dropped before logging. We do not represent that GA4 is “anonymous” or that it never processes IP addresses, because that would not match Google’s official documentation.
We have configured GA4 with Google Consent Mode v2, defaulting to denied before consent. Our custom event tracking is also gated on your consent. You can opt out at any time using the “Privacy Preferences” link in the footer or your browser’s cookie controls.
7. Cloudflare Web Analytics
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and may use Cloudflare Web Analytics. According to Cloudflare’s documentation, Web Analytics uses a lightweight beacon that does not use cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, or IndexedDB, and does not fingerprint individuals by IP address or User Agent. Cloudflare states that the beacon request includes the source IP address as part of normal HTTP handling, but that the IP address is discarded at the nearest Cloudflare data center and not stored. Cloudflare also states that Web Analytics is not enabled by default for traffic originating from the EU or UK; confirm in the Cloudflare dashboard whether Web Analytics is enabled for EU/UK traffic, and adjust the setting to match your intended audience.
8. Event tracking
When analytics consent is granted, we may measure interaction events such as file imports, edits, optimization runs, exports, device-preview opens, compatibility checks, and speed-curve edits. The only information sent with these events is non-identifying context, such as the file format, the import source, the edit type, the optimization preset, or the device template. We do not send your file contents, animation data, names, emails, phone numbers, messages, form values, payment information, or any other personal data to analytics.
9. Service providers
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts the website and may provide Web Analytics. Cloudflare processes data as a service provider under its own terms.
- Google LLC — provides Google Analytics 4. Google processes data under its own terms and acts as an independent controller for its own purposes in some jurisdictions.
If we add other third-party services in the future (such as fonts, CAPTCHA, CRM, email, or error monitoring), we will update this section before they are activated.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
10. International transfers
Because the site is available worldwide, and because Google and Cloudflare operate globally, the limited analytics information collected may be processed outside Canada, including in the United States and other countries. For visitors in the EU, Switzerland, and the UK, Google states that measurement data is collected through EU/UK/Switzerland-based domains and servers before forwarding to its processing servers. The legal basis for any transfer of personal information outside your jurisdiction should be confirmed with a privacy lawyer.
11. Data retention
Your Lottie files and edits are kept only in your browser’s memory for the active tab and are discarded when you close or refresh the tab. Nothing is stored in IndexedDB, localStorage, sessionStorage, or Cache Storage by the editor. (A one-time cleanup deletes a legacy IndexedDB database from older app versions.)
Analytics data is retained by Google and Cloudflare according to their own policies and the configuration of our analytics accounts. We keep analytics data only as long as needed to understand aggregate usage trends, and no longer than the retention period configured in our analytics tools. Your consent choice is retained in your browser until you clear site storage.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate to the limited information we collect. The editor processes files locally in your browser, so your animation data is not transmitted to or stored by us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. Because we collect very little personal information and do not maintain accounts, most requests can be handled by adjusting your consent choice or browser settings. For any request, contact us using the details in section 19 and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
14. Opt-out & withdrawal of consent
You can accept or decline analytics at any time using the “Privacy Preferences” link in the footer. You can also block or delete analytics cookies through your browser settings, or use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was already carried out while consent was given.
15. Children
Pillow Lottie is a tool for designers and developers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
16. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Our analytics consent banner gives you an explicit choice to accept or decline analytics regardless of such signals. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals differently from other visitors. Consult a privacy lawyer to confirm whether responding to DNT is required in your target jurisdictions.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the site or the law. We will revise the “Effective date” above and, for material changes, provide a notice on the site. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
18. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle personal information, please contact us first. You may also complain to a regulator. In Canada, that is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca). Visitors in Quebec may contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, visitors in the UK may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), and visitors in the EEA may contact their local data protection authority. Providing regulator links is for your convenience and is not legal advice.
