Lottie Speed & Timing Editor
Speed up, slow down, or precisely retime your Lottie animation with a visual speed-curve editor. A base speed slider (0.25×–3×) and a monotone cubic curve graph let you ramp timing smoothly — without After Effects, in your browser. Free.

Base speed control
A large slider lets you set the global playback speed from 0.25× to 3.00× in 0.05× steps. Quick presets include 0.5× Slow, 0.75× Gentle, 1× Original, 1.25× Snappy, 1.5× Fast, and 2× Very fast. Changes apply to the entire animation as one synchronized sequence — all layers stay perfectly in sync.
§ 2
Speed-curve editor
The speed-curve editor is a visual graph where the X axis represents animation progress (0%–100%) and the Y axis represents speed (0.1×–3.0×). Click to add points, drag to move them, and double-click or Delete to remove non-endpoint points. The curve uses smooth monotone cubic interpolation — no overshooting, no negative speed.
- Visual graph — X: progress 0–100%, Y: speed 0.1×–3.0×, with an "Original speed" guide at 1×.
- Smooth interpolation — monotone cubic curves with no overshooting or negative speed.
- 6 curve presets — Original, Slow intro, Fast finish, Dramatic pause, Smooth pulse, Snappy.
- Live indicator — the timeline shows the current speed in real time as the animation plays.

Export with embedded timing
Base speed and speed curve are runtime/preview controls. They are embedded in self-contained HTML preview ZIPs so the exported preview reproduces the exact timing. An optional animation-speed-settings.json sidecar can be exported for custom integrations.
Queries & corrections
Frequently asked questions
- How do I speed up a Lottie animation?
- Open your file in Pillow Lottie, go to the Speed tab, and increase the base speed slider (up to 3×) or use the "Fast" or "Very fast" preset. The change applies immediately with live preview.
- How do I slow down a Lottie animation?
- Decrease the base speed slider (down to 0.25×) or use the "Slow" or "Gentle" preset.
- Can I make the animation speed change over time?
- Yes. Use the speed-curve editor to create a variable speed profile — for example, a slow intro that speeds up toward the end. The curve uses smooth monotone cubic interpolation.
- Does the speed change get exported in the Lottie JSON?
- Variable playback speed is not reliably portable across Lottie runtimes, so it is not included in standard JSON export. It is embedded in HTML preview ZIPs, and an optional sidecar JSON file is available for custom integrations.
