01Do I need to upload my Lottie file to a server?
No. Pillow Lottie runs entirely in your browser. All parsing, editing, optimization, and export happens locally on your device. Your files never leave your browser tab.
02Do I need an account?
No account is required. Open the editor, drop your file, and start editing immediately.
03Is Pillow Lottie free?
Yes, completely free with no subscription, no signup, and no hidden costs.
04Which file formats are supported?
Pillow Lottie supports .json (standard Lottie), .lot, and .lottie (dotLottie package) files for import and export.
05Can I change the color of a Lottie animation?
Yes. Use the Color panel to extract all unique colors from your animation and replace them individually or globally with live preview. You can also paste CSS variables or apply theme palettes for branding or dark mode.
06Can I speed up or slow down a Lottie animation?
Yes. The Speed tab provides a base speed slider (0.25×–3×) and a visual speed-curve editor with monotone cubic interpolation and 6 presets (Slow intro, Fast finish, Dramatic pause, Smooth pulse, Snappy, and Original).
07Can I optimize and compress my Lottie file?
Yes. The Optimization center offers 6 presets (Safe, Balanced, Smallest file, Mobile smooth, Web fast, Custom) with an itemized changelog and before/after preview. One-click optimized export runs the recommended Balanced preset automatically.
08Can I preview my Lottie in a mobile UI context?
Yes. The Device preview mode includes 16 UI context templates: splash, loading, empty state, success/error toast, button, checkout success, onboarding, notification, iPhone screen, Android screen, desktop web, bottom sheet, popup, center modal, and confirm dialog.
09Can I validate my Lottie file for platform compatibility?
Yes. The Compatibility report provides a heuristic per-platform (web, iOS, Android) analysis of masks, mattes, merge paths, blur, gradients, images, expressions, 3D, layer/keyframe counts, path complexity, dimensions, frame rate, duration, and missing fonts.
10Can I export for web, iOS, and Android?
Yes. You can export edited Lottie JSON, optimized JSON, .lottie packages, HTML preview ZIPs, PNG/SVG frames, and integration code snippets for React, HTML/JS, React Native, SwiftUI, and Kotlin/Compose.
11Can I edit Lottie without After Effects?
Yes. Pillow Lottie is designed specifically for editing Lottie files without After Effects. You can change colors, text, layers, transforms, timing, and speed — then validate, optimize, and export.
12Can I edit a confidential Lottie file safely?
Yes. Since all processing happens locally in your browser and no files are uploaded to any server, Pillow Lottie is safe for confidential or proprietary Lottie files.
13Is my work saved?
No. Project state lives in memory only for the active browser tab session. Nothing is stored in IndexedDB, localStorage, or any other persistence layer. Export your work before refreshing or closing the tab. The editor warns you via the browser leave-page dialog when you have unsaved changes.
14Can I create a Lottie animation from scratch?
Yes. Start with a blank composition and add text layers and shapes (rectangle, rounded rectangle, ellipse, star, line) from the Assets tab. New layers are fully editable.
15What are the known limitations?
Animated text keyframes cannot be edited (only static text). Expressions, effects, and 3D properties are read-only. .lottie package export is experimental (single-animation manifest only). PNG preview rasterization is most reliable in Chromium-based browsers.
