What the validator checks
- Masks & mattes — flags alpha matte and mask usage with platform support notes.
- Merge paths — warns about merge path compatibility on iOS and Android.
- Blur & effects — identifies layer blur and effect usage.
- Gradients — checks gradient fill and stroke support per platform.
- Expressions — flags expression usage (not supported on all players).
- Images — detects embedded image assets and their size impact.
- 3D layers — warns about 3D layer usage.
- Missing fonts — identifies text layers with missing or non-system fonts.
- Complexity metrics — layer count, keyframe count, path complexity, dimensions, frame rate, and duration.
§ 2
Per-platform report
The compatibility report analyzes your animation separately for Web (lottie-web), iOS (lottie-ios), and Android (lottie-android). Each platform gets its own honest assessment — the report never claims perfect parity. It tells you what works, what might not, and what to test.
§ 3
Why validate before shipping?
Lottie animations that look perfect in After Effects may not render identically on every platform. Masks, mattes, merge paths, and expressions have varying support across lottie-web, lottie-ios, and lottie-android. Validating before you ship prevents production surprises.
Queries & corrections
Frequently asked questions
- Can the validator guarantee my animation will work on every platform?
- No. The compatibility report is heuristic and cannot guarantee platform parity. It flags known risk areas so you can test on your target platforms. Always test on real devices.
- Does the validator upload my file?
- No. All analysis runs locally in your browser via a Web Worker. Your file never leaves your device.
- What does the compatibility report check?
- It checks masks, mattes, merge paths, blur, gradients, images, expressions, 3D layers, layer/keyframe counts, path complexity, dimensions, frame rate, duration, and missing fonts — separately for web, iOS, and Android.
